every year at my school,
during prom week,
we have drunk driving prevention.
a program that im in, Renaissance && ASB,
put on a 'skit' every 2'Years called:
" Every 15 Minutes "
this is,
a two-day program focusing on high school juniors and seniors, which challenges them to think about drinking, driving, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions. Along with alcohol related crashes, it focuses on the impact that their decisions would have on family and friends.
we always introduce Casey's Pledge:
On March 12th 2003, 20 year old Casey Goodwin was struck head on by an 18 year old drunk driver and died the following day on March 13, 2003. Casey Goodwin dedicated her young life to prevention programs, including those dealing directly with alcohol-related issues. Casey was actively involved in Friday Night Live and the California Youth Council from the time she was in elementary school until her tragic death. Moved by the loss of Casey, former classmates and CYC members wanted to take action--they wanted to address drinking and driving and underage drinking. This was the catalyst for Casey's Pledge.
Casey's Pledge encourages youth to live a healthy lifestyle by committing their lives to staying alcohol free or never drinking and driving, and never getting into a car with a drinking driver. Casey's Pledge was designed to provide young people with a toolkit of resources and project ideas to implement the project in schools, and communities at large.
